4 Advantages of Online ACT® Tutoring

Read time: 2 minutes Last updated: September 23rd, 2024

Are you thinking about hiring a tutor? Sometimes finding the right tutor you trust can be challenging, before even considering scheduling, availability, and skill level. In recent years, online tutoring has connected the most talented tutors with families nationwide. Here are some advantages that online tutoring offers over in person.

On Your Family’s Schedule

One of the biggest advantages to pursuing tutoring online is that it works around your schedule. Besides residing in a certain city, the best tutors are usually restricted to certain neighborhoods on certain days. Travel time is another factor limiting when an experienced tutor’s availability.

To find someone really good you like, you might have to negotiate your schedules. When you find a good online tutor, they’re available on your schedule to a much greater degree. You can schedule any night of the week or day of the weekend without having to worry whether that tutor will be in your neighborhood. The tutor also doesn’t have to travel to you, allowing them to arrive that much faster.

While my personal preference is to allow students to enjoy their travels, working with an online tutor means you can make most any plans while continuing tutoring. This is helpful if you’re visiting relatives and still want your son or daughter to continue tutoring. It’s also quite helpful for student athletes at a certain level who have an away game they have to travel to.

Parents Can Join as an Observer

A lot of parents rightly like to hang around for the beginning of the first tutoring session. This can mean arranging your schedule with work and life in such a way to ensure you’re always at home when the tutor comes. Some online tutors (such as me) invite parents to join as an observer whenever they like, for as long as they want, as often as they like. That means you can still join if you have a meeting running late.

More Talent Available

Online tutoring means access to a lot more talent than is available locally. In big metropolitan cities, there may be some really experienced tutors. These are people who have had the benefit of a continuous flow of clients over many years.

That experience can be available to families like yours anywhere in the country now. Tutors can take all of the knowledge they have honed over the years serving their clients and reach families in smaller metropolitans.

On Demand Reviewing

Some tutoring companies (mine included) send recordings of the sessions to the family. This can be really beneficial so the student knows they can review a certain explanation whenever he or she doesn’t remember the exact way some help was worded.

Conclusion

When you’re meeting with a good tutor for 1:1 help, the tutor will ensure that your son or daughter is receiving personalized attention. There’s not much room for distraction in such an engaging environment.
